My name is Marc Grenier, I’m the founder of Pilsung Martial Arts Academy. You can read about some of my credentials (see the sidebar) if
you’re wondering about my experience or expertise in the martial
arts. Whatever “success” may mean for you… Some of our students just want to get into better shape and learn to defend themselves… Others want to win tournaments and become champion fighters… Whatever your personal goals may be, I can help get you there. I don’t believe in a “cookie-cutter” approach and understand that everyone has a different style of learning. In my deep teaching experience I’ve developed ways to effectively communicate with virtually anyone and get them to understand what they need to do to improve and achieve more. I’ve been training in Taekwondo for over 17 years now and teaching for 15 of those years but I still get the most satisfaction out of seeing new students sign up… set goals for themselves… then achieve them—oftentimes overshooting their goals and finding unexpected success. And I want to see you achieve all your goals too! What You Should Know About TaekwondoWhy Taekwondo? Taekwondo is the official sport of Korea and was made an Olympic sport in the year 2000. Taekwondo is famous for its fast, and powerful kicks and its advanced footwork making it an exciting sport to watch. It consists of three basic components 1.) Attacks 2.) Counter-attacks and 3.) Trapping (setting up your opponent so you can counter his counter-attack). Beginner classes focus on developing physical fitness while learning basic self-defense techniques. Advanced classes focus on mastering the basics and learning more and may include competition. Why Taekwondo Teaches You

Is Training At Pilsung Martial Arts Really
All I Say It Is?
|
MYTH: I’m
Not In Good Enough Shape
REALITY: Martial Arts Training Fits Anyone!
Some people think they have to be in better shape before they can even start training. This is simply not true. If you can walk at a rapid pace without keeling over, then you’re ready to start training!
We’ll work with you so that you maximize your current abilities and push yourself past your current limits—slowly and consistently so you don’t ever “over-do” it or injure yourself.
The truth is martial arts training has something for everyone. If you’re a woman and flexible… then our training will tone you up and get you stronger.
If you’re a strong man—we’ll teach you how to get more flexible, agile and “light on your feet”.
If you’re flexible and strong then we’ll increase your stamina.
The truth is—we’ll work with whatever you have now and make you better—all you have to do is show up with a can-do attitude.
MYTH: Martial
Arts are Only For Young People
REALITY: It’s good for all ages!
Another misconception is that martial arts are only for young people… but this is simply not true.
We have many students in their thirties, forties, and even older.
Once again—your ability level will determine how intense you train—we’ll start where you are and build from there.
Unlike most martial arts training centers, you’ll find we have a unique understanding of human physiology and we’re extremely concerned about training in the safest, most effective ways possible… without doing damage to joints, muscles or other body systems.
For example, some schools have you throw full-force kicks and techniques into the air—we know this will damage and weaken your joints over-time and it’s better to actually hit a target.
What this all means to you: No matter your age, you can start training today!
MYTH: I Need
Martial Arts Experience To Begin
REALITY: You Do NOT Need Any Experience To Get
Started Today
You can start training today without ANY previous martial arts experience. We’ll teach you everything you need to know from how to bow to throwing your first front kick.
We have experience training children as young as 3 years old—so we know a thing or two about teaching people with absolutely NO experience!
There’s no reason to be embarrassed starting training with no experience—everyone has to start somewhere.
In fact, most of our members are at the beginner level… but they’re still seeing amazing advancements in their attitude, physical fitness, self-defense skills and training success.
Which means there’s no reason at all not to get started training today—even if you have no experience.
As I mentioned before, even in beginner classes, sparring is a big part of the curriculum.
But some people highly enjoy the challenge and fun of sparring in a more competitive atmosphere. For students who show talent in this area and the desire we may invite them to join our Tournament Team.
If you get invited to join our tournament team you’ll take part in special training classes emphasizing sparring and tournament training. And you’ll get the opportunity to represent our school at local… state… national and even international tournaments!
Our tournament team is only a couple of years old but our unique training method is already producing results.
Here’s a list of our current medal count as of December 2007...

Joining the tournament team is an exciting way to take the skills you’re learning at our school and test them against other competitors of your same experience level, age, and weight to see how you stack up.
It’s also a great way to maximize your individual potential.
There are a lot of martial arts schools out there… why should you choose ours?
Best Results: In the Stafford, Fredericksburg, and Spotsylvania area we have one of the most successful tournament teams. Which means our methods produce results and will produce results for YOU—whether you want to fight competitively or achieve your other goals.
Great Location: We’re located off of Lafayette Blvd in Fredericksburg, VA. Which is far enough away from the traffic heavy areas of our local area—but still not far enough away to make going to class a hassle.
Best Facility: We have one of the biggest martial arts schools in the area, with over 4,000 square feet of training area… super high quality mats… weights… electronic scoring systems for tournament training…and separate men and women’s changing areas and restrooms.
